Five Community Network Development Projects selected

The steering committee (SC) of the HP2C platform selected five proposals for the establishment of community networks.
The five selected Application Support Networks (ASN) are:
- Solid Earth Dynamics (PI: Dr. Tarje Nissen-Meyer, ETH Zurich)
- Materials Simulations (PI: Prof. Nicola Marzari, EPFL)
- Plasma Physics, Astrophysics and Multiscale Fluid Dynamics (PI: Prof. Ben Moore, University of Zürich)
- Biology Across Scales (PI: Prof. Petros Koumoutsakos, ETH Zurich)
- Climate and Atmospheric Modelling (PI: Dr. Isabelle Bey, ETH Zurich)
The networks will submit until 30th April 2013 a support plan for the period 2013-2016 in the framework of the follow up program Platform for Advanced Scientific Computing (PASC); this will include a substantial share of co-funding from the involved universities in order to prepare the transfer of these positions under the university support from 2017.
The networks will organize a network meeting until January 31st 2013 in order to promote the preparation of co-design proposals for the PASC call.
